The holidays are upon us and with this food laden holiday season comes rich and delicious items as well as some unwanted pounds. With the start of each holiday season we start to worry about what our scale may say the next morning.
This holiday season how to do we prevent the numbers from rising in the upcoming weeks? One idea this season is to have not only foods that maybe a family favorite but ones that can prevent you from packing on the pounds. This year I made Roasted Sweet Potatoes instead of the normal sweet potatoes smothered in sweet maple sauce and marshmallows.
Changing food choices is just one of the ways to avoid packing on the pounds this holiday season. Some other ideas are do not take leftovers home or give away leftovers that you know you can’t resists. Do not skimp on exercise, however tempting that might be around the holidays. Lastly avoid or limit cream, cheese filled and other decadent type items.
Trying these tips to avoid packing on the Holiday pounds may save you this holiday season from your new year’s resolution of losing 20 pounds to 50 pounds. Hope everyone has a Happy thanksgiving.
Roasted Sweet Potatoes
In my opinion all sweet potatoes need are some salt, pepper and olive oil and they are the perfect accompaniment for a dish.
4 sweet potatoes peeled and cut into quarters
1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
2 tbsp olive oil
Place sweet potatoes in a bowl and toss with olive oil, salt and pepper. Layer on a baking sheet being sure not to pile on top of each other or they will steam instead of roast. Place in a 400 degree preheated oven for 20 minutes. Enjoy!
