It was a great day Sunday at our Celiac Awareness walk. Thank you for all who came and supported the cause. There were many vendors out and items available were all gluten free! What I was most excited about was meeting kids that were reading labels for themselves! I had one mom that was telling a story on how her child was educating others on how to look for gluten on the labels of packages.
I also performed a cooking demonstration, the best part was talking with everyone about being diagnosed with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. We discussed first reactions and what everyone did to educate themselves about the disease. Everyone had the same verdict being diagnosed stunk and trying to figure out the diet was difficult. As well as looking at some of the labels and seeing what was added to gluten free foods, sometimes more fat, sugar or preservatives was a hard thing to swallow. Discussion lead to healthy natural GF options like fruits, vegetables and lean meats all naturally occurring and all gluten free.
If you want to learn more about naturally gluten free foods and how to decode the food label join us this Wednesday at our monthly weight loss support group where we will be discussing food labels and decoding some of those tongue twisting ingredients.
