Hunter Polese, FNP-BC is a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner with subspecialities in Women’s Health and HIV care. In addition to primary care, she provides PrEP and PEP. Growing up with parents working at not-for-profit organizations in New York City, she always knew she wanted a career focused on helping people. Finding her way to nursing as a second career was the best thing that ever happened to her. She is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals, the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, and the Sigma Theta Tau, Honors Society of Nursing, Alpha Zeta chapter.
“As primary care providers, we are part of the front line We do it all- from treating acute illness, caring for chronic conditions and, perhaps most important, providing preventative medicine.” Hunter loves the sense of community and relationships she builds with patients. She believes that primary care is often a patient’s first point of contact with healthcare. She builds a partnership with her patients and helps them navigate the larger system. Hunter focuses on listening to their concerns for that day, but also what is going on in their lives overall. She believes strongly in providing education so that patients can take control of their own health instead of being in the passenger seat, and that everyone deserves access to a provider who genuinely cares and will be an ally in their care.
When not treating patients Hunter enjoys hiking, mountain biking, reading and playing World of Warcraft. She is a terrible gardener.
